You.Eating Disorders.And Reality!

Filed Under (healthy diet) by Viv;=) on 11-10-2008

Too many girls here on youtube, and out there in the world, think anorexia and bulimia are the answers to their weight issues.

I think they’re wrong. And wanted to make a video to hopefully inspire them to do things in a realistic and healthy way.

If you want to lose weight to be healthy, then do so, in a healthy way!

Eating disorders are diseases, NOT a weight loss plan!

If you have an eating disorder, help yourself before it’s too late, and talk to someone you trust on how to get help.

I don’t believe that the media plays the biggest role in this eating disorder… it may play some part of it… but i could care less about the media… geeze i don’t even watch t.v and i am anorexic/binge n’ purger i am afraid of fat ppl and i’m afraid of becoming fat and i’m afraid of a lot of foods… and i care way too much aobut what ppl think of me… nothing to do with the media…

I like that you presented facts and not all the pro- ana/mia bull but you also need to understand that many people who have these diseases are in fact, mentally diseased. They simply cannot control their own minds. I think that’s very important to remember.

Okay, I’m just saying that just because you don’t feel a certain way, it doesn’t mean no one else does. I didn’t mean to offend anyone, but all I’m saying is that this does help SOME people

okay so maybe that is how you feel
i am currently suffering from bulemia and have done so for the past 3 years
it really didnt help me at all
it didnt show me there were people to help
only people can do that for me

Maybe not, but talking about it is the first step. I’ve suffered from a mental disorder all my life, and it’s only recently that I’ve started to talk about it, and it really HAS helped. When there’s something going on wrong in your mind, you feel like you have no one one your side. Seeing something like this makes you feel that there are people out there who are willing to help, and who do care. And that’s one of the most important things of recovery.

hey,
i love this video,
and thats coming from who’s recovering from an ED.
it gives people the push to keep going and not to fall back into old bad habbits.
ignore the people that are having a go at you, by the sounds of it they dont understand how hard it is to recover and how great it is to have this video to help them!
xXx

umm this is a load of crap
you cant just say to someone to stop thinking that way about themselves
it is stuck in their minds that it is the right thing
telling them to tell themselves they are fine will not help
it takes a hell of a lot more then just talking about it

How was that demanding and not asking? Look, I don’t like sitting here arguing. It’s not healthy for either of us. Why don’t we just agree to disagree. I’ll quit responding and provoking, and you quit implying I’m controlling, delusional, and stupid.

I am not just telling you just becasue you demand information, you do not control me….if you would ask instead of demanding, I would have answered to you…You are still in the anger and controlling phase and I am not cooperating with your ill brain

Once again, I’ll ask- what experience do you have with eating disorders?

I did not write “mirrors and scale away will cure you”. I called them enablers. Stopping anorexia from progressing does not mean it will cure you. Enablers out of the equation does not imply a cure. You still need to heal.
Now, if you do not understand this you are seriously mentaly impared. But indeed anorexia impares your mental ability so there you are.

I never said it was a magic cure. You said “Take them away and there is no way anorexia can progress.” All I did was prove that wrong with my experience. Even without, I still got sicker and sicker. What experience do you have with eating disorders? One more thing, I’d appreciate you not implying I’m stupid.

less beautiful people have got other talents…if you belong to this group then you need to concentrate in developing your own talents ..otherwise you will be anorexic and sick but not beautiful/…being beautiful is a talent, you got it or you don’t…(that’s natural selection, baby)

being mentally impared you can hardly think properly. But if you have trouble remembering how could you perfomr more complicated mental tasks? Let me chew it for you dear: The feeding of the illness has to stop first, then you can concentrate in healing. Healing is going to be a process, not an act of magic. Got it? Of course, taking the mirror away is not going to zas! cure you…that’s such an stupid line of thinking…you are so desperate to be right…for God’s sake!

This is a really great video! I especially love the video clips thrown in there. It really adds even more to the emotional aspect.

Really? After I got out of the hospital last time, my parents got rid of the scale. I can honestly say I haven’t cheated. They put film over the mirror in my bathroom (my ‘trigger’ mirror). I’m still really sick. Apparantly, eating disorders can still thrive, even without scales, and probably without any mirrors either.
