ADHD Warning

Nutrition by Natalie

A recent study published in the UK Lancet medical journal found that children given food which contain common food dyes and sodium benzoate (a preservative) caused several children to become measurably more hyperactive and inattentive.

The findings promoted the UK Food Standards Agency to issue an immediate advisory warning to parents to limit these additives in their children’s diets.

For years psychiatrists have been down playing the connection between nutrition and ADHD symptoms. This study clearly illustrates one such connection.

You can read about this study here.

I’m very happy you didnt deny its existence. I have ADHD. I had 1 big Mac and it crippled my cognitive ability , almost like having 4 standard glasses. Hence i can never have McDonalds before lectures.

Hey Natalie! I did a wikipedia search on Sodium Benzoate; “It is found naturally in cranberries, prunes, greengage plums, cinnamon, ripe cloves, and apples”. I don’t eat any of the ingredients but apples on occasion, lol. Should we avoid apples?

Thanks Natalie for this important safety tip. Strange that the FDA isn’t the one telling us what’s safe and what isn’t? I wonder how much money is wasted funding that government enterprise? 42 million

Experts across all fields of Mammalia behaviour agree reward is a better teacher than punishment. Punishment breeds subservience and weakens relations (which some people refer to as respect).

There are only two types of “smacking” parent. One who doesn’t, and one who does too often.

Oh ya, I forgot about the typical “overbeaten.” I always here the same arguments from both groups. Those of us who had parents that understood the balance between physical discipline and other types seemed to turn out fine. And it did do me some good. It didn’t take me more than once to know I wouldn’t do that again. The balance is that I was told what I did, spanked and later talked to about why not to. To each his own, but when talking isn’t working, drugs shouldn’t be the next idea.

So, I’d say, beating sense into kids didn’t teach me a great deal more than not to do it.

Here is where you’d say something like, well it did me no harm.

Maybe not.

But it did you no good either.

Do I?

Well I would conclude then, given the over the top “discipline” I was subjected to via fists, feet, shoes, belts and on rare occasions plates - to come out the other side sounding like a typical “I wasn’t spanked” type is quite interesting.

In my parents words?

“all that time we tried to beat you into attending school, and you were already serving your apprenticeship, I suppose I am proud of you, just didn’t realize you were actually learning something [...] once again, very well done!”

Parents don’t discipline their kids nearly as well as they used to. You sound like the typical “I wasn’t spanked” type.

Smacking kids doesn’t prevent anything, and smacking them doesn’t instil respect. A clip round the ear every now and then will turn there energy to better things - but it doesn’t take it away, and it doesn’t change there mind about wanting to do in the first place.

If you think “the kids today” are somehow get a better deal than you, then you are sadly mistaken.

TARTRAZINE by itself causes many problems with adhd type sypmtoms and aggressive behavior. When ingested with SODIUM BENZOATE.. the effect is 10 fold.. TARTRAZINE HAS BEEN BANNED IN SEVERAL COUNTRIES AND PRESENTLY THE UK ARE LOOKING INTO BANNING IT AS WELL.
Eat as natural as possible. Stay away from fast foods, and packaged foods. Cook your own food from scratch, because your ability to control what’s in your food obviously increases… GOOD LUCK.. I HOPE I HAVE HELPED SOMEONE.

This is for those of you who ‘have adhd’ I put that in quotes because it’s debatable. Stay away from these chemicals.. TARTRAZINE AND SODIUM BENZOATE. Tartrazine is a yellow dye which is found in many products which are guided towards children. You’ll find it in Mac and cheese and freezes.. orange juice and many other products. Sodium Benzoate is found in probably 80% of packaged (processed) foods.. STAY AWAY FROM THESE, AND YOU WILL FEEL BETTER IMMEDIATELY. society is being poisoned..

“Normal” people around us cant see the world though our eyes because they simply cant escape from the inside the box. My ADD is treatable. you being trapped inside the box is not.

Be Proud to be different not deficit

Being born and being capable of seeing things from so many different angles, and being able to think outside the box, and being able to take time and appreciate the things in life. You can either tell yourself how bad life is, and look at all the negatives about yourself and about the world around you, and try and force yourself to think inside the box. Or you can use your ability to think outside the box, and look higher than that.
